Opening Statement

• As-Sahifahas-Sadiqah …Why? (first issue)

`Abdullah bin `Amr bin al-`Aas, may Allah be pleased with him and with his father, was dedicated to writing the Prophetic hadeeth and scribing the pure Sunnah during the time of Allah’s Messenger r.  He was proficient at this task, being one of the forerunners in recording the inheritance, meaning knowledge, of the Last of the Prophets r.

1. He used to write all what he heard from the Prophet r:

`Abdullah bin `Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “I used to write everything I heard from Allah’s Messenger r seeking to preserve it, until Quraish (the Prophet’s tribe) discouraged me, saying, ‘Why do you write all what you hear from Allah’s Messenger r? He is a human; he speaks in anger and in pleasure?’ I mentioned this to Allah’s Messenger r, and he raised his finger to his mouth and said, ‘Rather, write! For by He Who owns my soul, only the truth comes out of it.’” (Collected by Abu Dawud, 3646, Ahmad, 6510, and ad-Darimi, 1/125, using an authentic chain of narration)



2. He was among the strongest of the Sahabah in memory and understanding of the Prophetic hadeeth:

Abu Hurairah (t) said, “There was none more knowledgeable in the hadeeth of Allah’s Messenger r than I was, except `Abdullah bin `Amr. He used to write [the Prophet’s hadeeth] with his hand, and understand with his heart. I used to only understand with my heart, but did not write with my hand. He had asked Allah’s Messenger r to write what he (the Prophet) says, and he r granted him permission.” (Collected by al-Bukhari, 113, and Muslim, 3004)



3. He used to keep whatever he wrote from the Prophet’s hadeeth in a box with a lock:

Abu Qubail said, “We were with `Abdullah bin `Amr bin al-`Aas when he was asked, ‘Which of the two cities will be conquered first, Constantinople or Rome?’ He then asked for a box to be brought, and it had a lock on it. He took a book out and said [while reading from it], ‘We were sitting with Allah’s Messenger r writing, when he was asked, ‘Which of the two cities will be conquered first, Constantinople or Rome?’ The Messenger of Allah r replied, ‘The city of Heraclius will be conquered first.’ He meant Constantinople.’” (Collected by Ahmad, 2/176, ad-Darimi, 1/126, al-Hakim, 4/422, 508, and 55, with a sahih (authentic) chain of narration)

This book of `Abdullah bin `Amr became known as, “The Truthful Tablet (as-Sahifah as-Sadiqah),” just as he wished to name it.  He had scribed it directly from the mouth of Allah’s Messenger r, which makes it among the most truthful of all narrations reported from Allah’s Messenger r.

When Mujahid bin Jabr once saw this tablet and wanted to take it in his hand, `Abdullah bin `Amr told him, “Mah (cease), O boy of Bani Makhzum!”  Mujahid said, “You never stopped me from getting anything before.”  `Abdullah replied, “This is the Truthful [Tablet]. In it is what I heard from Allah’s Messenger r; there were no narrators between me and him.” (Refer to, Taqyeed al-`Ilm, pg. 84, and, At-Tabaqat al-Kubra, of Ibn Sa`d, 2/373)

“The Truthful Tablet” was beloved to `Abdullah bin `Amr and dear to his heart.  It was one of the most priceless possessions in this Dunya (life) to him, so much so, that he said, “Only two things make me wish to live more, as-Sadiqah and al-Wahtah. As for as-Sadiqah, it is a tablet where I recorded some statements from the Messenger of Allah r. As for al-Wahtah, it is land that `Amr bin al-`Aas (Abdullah’s father) gave away in charity, but used to manage it afterwards.” (Collected by ad-Darimi, 1/105)



As-Sahifah as-Sadiqah” is unique in a number of ways, among them:

  1. It was among the first compilations of the hadeeth of Allah’s Messenger r, reported directly from him r.
  2. It preserved a large number of the ahadeeth of Allah’s Messenger rverbatim; they were heard directly by `Abdullah bin `Amr from the mouth of Allah’s Messenger r, without a narrator between them.
  3. This tablet was written with direct permission from Allah’s Messenger r to `Abdullah bin `Amr.  This indicates the eagerness of the Messenger of Allah r towards preserving his Sunnah and having it passed from one generation to another.  It also shows his love for those who try and bring the Sunnah closer to his Ummah (Muslim nation) and strive to present it to them without change.
  4. It is comprised of ahadeeth which were stated at various times and situations, with nothing in common between these statements other than the fact that they are all true.
  5. It is a good example of the extreme care and eagerness the Sahabah, the Prophet’s Companions, had with regards to serving the Prophetic Sunnah.
  6. It elevates the morals of the Muslims and endears to them living in the service of the Prophetic Sunnah, defending it, and spreading it among Muslim masses.
  7. It demonstrates the fact that the Sunnah is religion itself, since it regulates the life of the nation, both groups and individuals.  Every aspect Muslims need in their life is found in the authentic Prophetic Sunnah.
  8. It indicates that writing and scribing the Sunnah is the safest and shortest way to learning and understanding the Sunnah, as well as, conveying it.
  9. It stated that the future is for Islam, by the permission of Allah Alone, as indicated by the hadeeth Abu Qubail reported from `Abdullah bin `Amr t, about the conquering of Constantinople and Rome.
  10. It also indicates that among Allah’s blessings that should be announced, is for Muslims to have pride in their religion and in serving the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah r.  `Abdullah was so happy about his tablet that he would often mention it to his acquaintances, students and brothers.


These are ten points that we collected while producing this premier edition of our, as-Sahifah as-Sadiqah, which is Salafi in its Manhaj, or methodology, scientific in its approach, authenticated in its content, and easy in its language, with its aim being to present the authentic Sunnah between the hands of the Ummah, or Muslim nation.

Every Muslim, male and female, wherever they are, whatever their level of knowledge may be, and in all situations and conditions, will find in this magazine what connects them to Allah and His Messenger and his religion and Ummah.  The Ummah of Muhammad, which has been granted mercy, will find in this magazine what guides them to fulfill their fundamental aims and mission.  The Muslim family will also find in this magazine what helps them fulfill their role being the building blocks and the living cells that comprise the Muslim society. 

All of this will be performed with a clear methodology and the understanding of the Salaf as-Salih, or the Righteous Ancestors of Muslims, following the righteous lead of the Companions, their righteous successors, and the noted scholars who followed their path.

In addition, we strive to implement a set of religious aims, seeking Allah’s help to fulfill these goals through our magazine, “The Truthful Tablet”, which will be, by Allah’s aid, a unique, scientific magazine that aims to serve the Prophetic Sunnah and the Prophet’s practical legacy, by ...


  1. Propagating the Prophetic Sunnah, including the honorable acts of the Prophet r, clarifying its pure nature and spreading knowledge about it among the people according to the understanding of the as-Salaf as-Salih.
  2. Resurrecting trust in the Prophetic Sunnah and the pure legacy of the Prophet r among Muslims, through the following means:
    1. Purifying the Sunnah from what is not a part of it, and cleansing it from what was ascribed to the Messenger of Allah r which is not part of his statements, actions, or approvals.
    2. Countering contemporary doubts concerning the Sunnah, and clarifying the various stances concerning it taken by various deviant sects.
    3. Simplifying the details of its knowledge so as to bring it closer to all Muslims, men, women and children.
  3. Nurturing aSunni, Salafi generation who would produce scholars and students of Islamic knowledge who would call to Allah with clear guidance.
  4. Proving that the Sunnah is a complete and comprehensive religion which did not leave any small or big aspect in the life of a Muslim but has explained Allah’s Law concerning it and clarified its implication according to the way of Allah’s Messenger r.
  5. Attesting to the efforts of the scholars of Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jama`ah, from among the Salaf as-Salih, Righteous Ancestors of Muslims, in serving the honorable Prophetic Sunnah and the Prophet’s pure legacy.
  6. Connecting with research centers that specialize in the Prophet’s Sunnah and the Prophet’s pure legacy, in all corners of the Islamic world, and integrating with the scholars and students of knowledge who specialize in serving the Prophetic hadeeth.



These are our goals.  As for what makes us unique, it is as follows:

  1. Comprehensive Content: We will work to present a complete, full, and interrelated image of the Prophetic Sunnah and the Prophet’s pure legacy, be it in the fields of education, science, politics, society, psychology, or medicine.
  2. Worldwide Message: Directing the moderate, Sunni, Salafi methodology towards all of mankind, while avoiding any ties to or expressing the views of any party, movement, or organization.
  3. The Middle-Path Methodology: This magazine adopts the middle, Salafi methodology towards the Sunnah, without exaggeration or falling short of fulfilling this path, with special dedication towards resisting extremism and fanaticism.
  4. Objectivity in Discussion: We strive to achieve scientific precision in our presentation, observing the scientific approach while avoiding pre-conceived ideas.
  5. Objectivity: We rely on objectivity in our approach and refrain from using provocative methods that may stir or incite emotions or political agitation.


These, in general, are our goals.  We call on all Muslims to support us in carrying this trust and spreading this message, which will hopefully bring about an awareness towards Islam and spread its eternal flag throughout the world, within the framework of sincere brotherhood and pure compassion, all the while trusting in the support and aid that Allah extends to His righteous slaves;

But honor, power and glory belong to Allah, His Messenger (Muhammad r), and to the believers, but the hypocrites know not” (63:8);

It is He Who has sent His Messenger(Muhammad r)with guidance and the religion of truth(Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikoon(polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah)hate(it).” [9:33]
